Rachel Sehl
is a world class, international DJ who presently resides in Vancouver, Canada.
Rachel is an extremely successful, highly sought after DJ who holds
residencies at the top clubs in Canada.
She is quite the jettsetter, having played at prestigious nightclubs in Australia, UK,
and U.S.A.
She just got back from the Winter
Music Conference in Miami, where she rocked the house for the Supperclub at the OM Records 15 year anniversary party, on a bill that hosted the
likes of Kruder & Dorfmeister, Mark Farina, DJ Sneak, Chromeo, Diplo
to name a few. Upon her return she will
be the go to DJ to open for big acts such as Hed Kandi.
Rachel is also
the resident DJ for Sunglasses At
Night, a highly successful club night, that is put on all over the world. She
will be playing the next Sunglasses event in Sweden
along side the Audiowhores, with
events in San Francisco and Vancouver to follow. Then she is off to Quebec to play the
Zenn-Now Music festival, a massive 3 day camping/music extravaganza, with an
all-star lineup. After
that, she is straight back to Europe to play
the Kendal Calling festival for the Mad Hatter Recordings Tent.
Rachel's introduction to music was
very different than most. Until the age of 14, she wasn't allowed to
listen to music unless it was gospel or Christmas carols. She was home
schooled so she wasn't exposed to music or pop culture through peers either.
Because music was so unattainable and such a mystery to her, it made her
want it so much more. Once she reached high school, no longer home schooled,
she began researching as much music as possible. She stumbled upon the
electronic music scene soon after and instantly a new DJ was born. Rachel
began by playing rock/glam/indie music in pubs because she didn't have to know
how to mix but still got to play music for people. She then progressed
into playing a lot of funk/hip hop/top 40, while still learning how to
mix. Once she mastered overlaying two records on top of each other in
synch, she started playing electronic music, her true love. Now
Rachel plays all aspects of House/Electro/Techno/Indie Dance and gets
booked everywhere to play it.
Rachel is an extremely versatile DJ
because she has had experience playing all genres of music at high profile
clubs. Her success comes from her immaculate taste in music and always
knowing what to play and when to play it. Rachel knows how to open, rock
a party, and close. With her flawless mixing style and unbeatable energy,
Rachel will drive any crowd crazy. Rachel is always pushing boundaries
and doesn't alienate genres, she feels good music, is good music.
However, presently, she tends to lean towards really funky, sexy, house
music, with vocals. 2009 promises to be a very successful year for
Rachel and she is ready and poised to smash it!!
