Exclusive Interview with Antoine Clamaran

Addictive: When did you start djing and how did you get into the industry?
Antoine: I started at 20 years old in a little club by helping the Dj resident.

Addictive: Did you have a normal day time job before, if so what were you doing?
Antoine: No I got the chance to work only into my passion the music

Addictive: What do you prefer djing, remixing or producing?
Antoine: I think that today it's the same job. Every young dj who wants to start has to produce some tracks. Because for the owners of the clubs if you have a track on air it's better.

Addictive: Who influences your music?
Antoine: All the 80's music, disco and soul music. And I also like very much all the tribal sounds.

Addictive: You tour a lot where have you played that has given you the best vibe?
Antoine: Of course, in France the stage is amazing. I have a residency in Paris at Mix Club 3 times by year and it's always great. But I get also a special relationship with the Colombian stage.

Addictive: Are you looking forward to performing in Mauritius for the addictive tour?
Antoine: Of course I will be there the 22nd.A great event!

Addictive: Have you been to Mauritius before?
Antoine: Yes I used to spend holidays on your beautiful island

Addictive: What can we expect from Antoine clamaran during your set?
Antoine: I hope some great sounds!!! As I shall have rested I'll try to be good! For sure it will be a great party.

Addictive: How does it feel to be 110 in the dj mag top djs in the world and being the 5th French dj?
Antoine: I'm proud of course and I want to thank again all my fans for their support. Because this chart is based on the votes of the web fans.

Addictive: With technology moving so fast in the music Industry what are your views on Serato?
Antoine: I don't use this device.

Addictive: Many djs today are using Serato, have you considered moving across to Serato or do you prefer cds?
Antoine: No I want to stay with CDs. It was hard for me to pass from vinyls to Cds. Now I found a good way to mix and I want to stay like that for a moment.

Addictive: When you were using vinyl how did you find the transition to cds?
Antoine: It was not so easy, but now I couldn’t come back on vinyl’s! You get more possibilities with cds for your mixes.

Addictive: With so many new djs coming through the ranks who is your favorite dj at present and why?
Antoine: I want to support a German Dj who is Kurd Maverick. His sound is great. New and very happy.

Addictive: Will you be playing any exclusive tracks you have produced on the 22nd?
Antoine: YES, after my tour in Colombia the fans asked me to produce some tracks for them. And I did it. You will listen to them the 22nd of course.

Addictive: Working under the banner of ministry of sound before how do you feel when you are booked to headline the mos tours around the world?
Antoine: I like so much mos parties, there're always good vibes and the stage is crazy. For me it's a very important rendez vous.

Addictive: Has the association with mos been good for you in your career?
Antoine: Of course, when you put a MOS party on your calendar it's prestigious.

Addictive: How has your music style changed over the years and what has influenced the changes?
Antoine: I get older!! Seriously the main change is that I use more and more tribal sounds in my tracks. It is due to my previous history from caraibes.

Addictive: Finally if you were stranded on a desert island what would you bring with you and why?
Antoine: A soccer ball! And an MP3 because I can't spend a day without music
